I saw the boys on July 4, 2000, at Hirsch Memorial Colliseum in Shreveport, Louisianna. The concert started at about nine thirty that evening, and it was positively incredible. The show began with the boys kind of sneaking out onto the stage into the darkness and Stu G playing a very distorted version of "The Star Spangled Banner." (I was about three feet from the bass man, by the way.) They immediately went in to "Bliss" and rocked from there. Many of the people there hadn't heard much of the Mezzamorphis stuff yet, so it was fun to watch their reactions to the harder stuff. After that, Martin remarked how ironic it was that we had a British band playing on OUR Independance Day. Really and truly, though, the show wasn't awesome because of the lights or sound (which were fantastic by the way..), but it was awesome because of the spiritualness of it. They didn't do nearly as much rock n roll kind of stuff as they did worship, which is what the people down there were there for. Over all it was a fantastic show. I cannot put in to words how it was to finally see the boys live. Anyone who has an opportunity to see the boys should by all means go. It will be the most worthwhile concert experience in your Christian entertainment life. Trust me.
