After developing a new standard of worship anthems that are sung all over the world, Sparrow Records group Delirious will release Deeper: The d:finitive worship experience, a 25-song double disc collection featuring their modern worship classics, on October 9th. Redefining the meaning of praise and worship, Delirious has sold more than 1,000,000 albums worldwide and is regarded as the forerunners of the modern worship music movement.
This self-produced album features a new song 'Not Forgotten' penned by frontman Martin Smith, new versions of six songs which include 'The Happy Song,' 'Did You Feel The Mountains Tremble,' and 'I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever,' and timeless worship tracks from their previous releases King of Fools and Mezzamorphis.
'While Delirious may not be solely responsible for the new worship movement, as some have said, they have certainly been at the front edge of the movement,' said Lynn Nichols, Vice President, A&R for Sparrow Records. 'They have raised the standard of worship by merging a high degree of art and musical integrity with deeply spiritual lyrics that are 'fresh manna' for the hungry masses.'
'Delirious continues to move forward with a prophetic urgency,' adds Nichols. 'Even as Deeper represents the best of their earlier works and for that reason is a must have. Last year's Glo project sets the tone for where worship is headed and contains some of the songs we'll all be singing in the not too distant future.'
Among their many accolades, Delirious' 1998 debut release Cutting Edge received RIAA Gold certification in August of 2001 in the USA. Delirious' international success has also garnered attention with Cutting Edge already going Gold in Canada in February of 2000.
'Delirious' signature style of blending intimate worshipful lyrics with modern rock melodies has made an indelible mark on the church and a new generation of worshipers,' states Leigh Ann Hardie, VP of Marketing and Artist Development for Sparrow Records. 'They forged new territory in Christian music, that which is now referred to as 'modern worship.' The collective popularity of the songs on Deeper is astounding. We anticipate Deeper to be Delirious' most successful release of their career, as the demand for these songs only continues to gain momentum.'
Delirious' worldwide acclaim helped secure the band an opening slot for Bon Jovi's 'One Wild Night' European tour the summer of 2001. Opening for both Matchbox Twenty and Bon Jovi, Delirious performed five arena concert dates including Glasgow, Dublin, Huddersfield, Milton Keynes, and Cardiff. Over 300,000 people were impacted with the music of Delirious.
Since their 1998 introduction to the American marketplace, the UK-based band has garnered critical and commercial acclaim with their four-album discography, which includes Cutting Edge (1998), King of Fools (1998), Mezzamorphis (1999) and Glo (2000). The group has also been honored with two prestigious Dove Award Nominations from the Gospel Music Association for 'Praise and Worship Album of the Year (Glo)' and Martin Smith for 'Song of the Year (I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever).'
