When it comes to the tunes kicked out by the d: boys, it's all about anthems; songs that breathe their own fire. Sure we can all think of the HUGE tunes, the ones that tower above even the largest crowds, but the fact is that it's at the heart of any Delirious? song you can be sure that the word 'anthem' feels at home. From I'm Not Ashamed to Obsession, I've Found Jesus to Thank You For Saving Me, the boys have made it their duty to forge connections with their listeners by producing music that goes straight to the heart. And after all, isn't that why we keep on coming back: the fact that no one else quite manages to put into words and music the way we feel?
For years people have talked about how Delirious? have been writing the soundtrack for a generation: mapping, enhancing and defining the way many of us have grown over the years. And if you're looking for a single word that sums up this whole process, you can find it here: Deeper.
The songs have taken us deeper, the worship experiences have done the same and the desire all along has been for more of the same.
And so it's kind of fitting that the very latest album from Delirious? should be called 'Deeper'. Pulling together the God-focused cream of the band's output over the last ten years, this album draws in those sugar-sweet musical highs and spiritual swells that we know can only be good for us. It hits the stores on 7th January 2002 and features two bonus tracks: the hit 'I Could Sing' and a brand new and previously unreleased gem called 'Not Forgotten'. Did You Feel The Mountains and Lord You Have My Heart both get a re-working in the studio, and the remix of The Happy Song pops up to signpost a trip down memory labe. More than just a best of.., 'Deeper' gets you back to the source, right into the heart and up close to the passion that had you jumping up and down when you thought no one was looking. As a worship experience, Deeper does exactly what it says on the tin.
