These are exciting times for the Church. Forget, if you will, the fact that this is a press release, and look around you. These days are ripe with a sense of expectation. No longer are Christians out-sourcing their radicalism to those on the platform. Delirious? have been singing about History Makers for years, but right now there's an army of them living it all out for real.

So at a time like this logic would suggest that Delirious?, like most bands well into their second decade, ought to be taking it easy, churning out Best Of... compilations with every passing season. But passion suggests otherwise. Delirious? have always acted as a mirror to the surges of the Church, and these days the reflections are looking bolder than ever. The band's forthcoming single and album reflect all the passion, purpose and power that is on the loose right now. From summer festivals to local activists standing tall in the playground, the Church is taking the gospel message and living it out loud. Enough of waiting, the army says, now is the time to paint the town red with the blood of Jesus.

So, as cheerleaders, baggage-handlers or mood-music-creators for a generation, Delirious? are about to release a single that stands alongside the saints.

The band are making sure that the track is highly visible. By releasing 'Paint The Town Red' as a single exclusive to iTunes on Tues 11th October - with a limited run of CD singles in HMV and Virgin megastore on Mon 10th October - the world's favourite music download service will focus its attention on the message of faith in action.

Logic would also suggest that Delirious? have done singles. Back in the late 1990s there were the pop videos, the radio plays and appearances on Saturday morning kids' TV. So why release a single now? The answer is simple and has nothing to do with fame, ambition or profile for profile's sake. The iTunes single release has a single purpose in mind: to tell the story that is being written by Christians the world over. It's all about getting the message out to a curious public.
