In light of what happened on 11 September 2001 in America, with the tragic deaths of thousands of innocent people we feel we have needed to make a response.
Many of you have emailed us to ask if the song White Ribbon Day could also be made available as a free MP3 download, due to the poignancy of the lyrical content.
The day after the atrocities we made the song America available, but feel it only right to also add this song.
White Ribbon Day was the first ever single to be released by Delirious? back in 1997. This song captured the mood of the time and was written due to peace negotiations in Ireland. It still seems to have a potency that can relate to recent events in the US and other tragedies around the world. Again this is not an attempt at self-promotion, but more an offering to anyone that can find comfort in a piece of music that is so personal to us. So please download these two songs and remember to pray for White Ribbon Day.
America
"You're too young to die?" A relatively young nation compared to others and yet it has risen to be the most powerful representative of the Western world. What we saw on the 11th September 2001 through our TV sets was a barbaric act of the worst kind bringing fear and chaos to innocent people.
It is impossible to know how to respond at a time like this and words are definitely too cheap, when loved ones of loved ones have perished. Delirious? have often talked about music and how in its own way it can bring hope and a crumb of comfort to someone's soul and as musicians we are stirred ourselves to make a response in our own small way.
All of us in Delirious? and everyone at Furious? Records have decided today to release a new song from the album 'Audio Lessonover?' Many thousands of you around the world have already downloaded the song 'Take Me Away' through MP3 and we are gladly making the song 'America' available on the same basis. We are not doing this as a 'weird' marketing ploy, but feel in light of what has happened we are changing our short term plans so that people across the world can participate in the sentiment of this song, written at the beginning of last year. It will be available free and no additional marketing or promotion will be undertaken. We are just letting this song go to where it needs to go.
What happened in America yesterday has made the nations of the world stand still. It is often when we are standing still that the God of heaven speaks and brings us to our knees. Today as people who 'believe' or not we know we all 'belong' and must unite to 'sing a new song' in this time of tragedy.
