Face facts, Australia's a fine place to be. The weather's great, the attitudes are easy and there's hardly any danger of getting let down on the sports field. But if any of you were at Soul Survivor this year you'll know that all these gold stars are as nothing compared to the buzz that accompanied the crew from Hillsongs, Sydney. It seems that there are some seriously exciting things going on God-wise down under, and it just so happens that Delirious got themselves a sniff of the barbie when they helped lead worship at Hillsongs back in July 03.
Out on November 1st is UP/Unified Praise - the most exciting worship album the band have been involved in for years. Captured with the aid of 20,000 Aussie worshipheads at the Sydney Olympic Superdome, the night went off like none other. According to Martin Smith 'it was an historic event being the largest gathering of believers ever in Australia. It was also a privilege to share the stage with Darlene and the team and a night we will never forget' and all it takes is one look at the track list to know that as Delirious and the Hillsong band shared the honours, the worship would have flowed... it all kicks off with United Live's classic 'Everday', takes a trip 'Rain Down and Majesty (Here I Am)', ending up checking out the view from the heights of 'History Maker'.
But you don't need me to tell you that worship meetings are about more than singing songs, they're all about the connections made between the earthly and the eternal, between the creator and the created. I can tell you this, however; there was plenty of that going around on the night.
Things don't just stop at the cd, though. Some clever bloke thought up the idea of bunging the whole gig onto a DVD, which was nice of them. As well as getting to see the whole thing as it happened you can plug into the following tasty extras
