Furious? Records are pleased to announce a couple of tasty developments around Delirious' forthcoming US tour. Drawing on old acquaintances and pulling together some inspirational artists, the line up looks like it's more than qualified to satisfy.
First up are newcomers
Everyone. From 1st to the 23rd March the West Coast gurus will be offering the crowds a blend of their divine finest. Featuring the unique vocal and songwriting talents of Jeff Searles, the band chew up a decent spread of influences, remolding them into something wonderful: melodic and organic, Everyone's experience is 100% live and direct - forging a solid gold link between band and audience from the very first chords.
From March 24th until April 13th Delirious will be joined by another artist: fellow Brit
Matt Redman. Having made a name for himself over recent years for lyrics that are uncompromisingly God-focussed and melodies that seem to come vacuum packed with a little of that heavenly freshness, Matt's worship leading is an ideal partner to Delirious' mighty spiritual home-brew.
For those that like to know these things, the connections between the artists go back for years. Everyone's Jeff Searles first came into contact with Delirious back in the mid 1990s. Having heard nothing but the band's first material - the lo-fi/hi-passion Cutting Edge tapes - Jeff arranged to record his debut solo album with the band. Recorded in a matter of days in band's studio, Inside Me hit the shelves in 1995, making a quick name for itself. It sounded more than a little like Counting Crows and was simply dripping with vibe. Jeff's vocal punched with an unusually intense integrity, while the songs seemed to come alive as Delirious gave them the stripped down, less-is-more treatment. The friendship was well formed, and the wait for further material from Jeff seems right now to be worth it as Everyone look set to become the first signing to Furious Records.
As for Matt Redman, he and Delirious have practically shared a back yard for the last decade. Matt's first album was also recorded in Tim Jupp's studio, produced by Martin Smith and coloured in by the guitars of Stu G. Since then they have worked together on plenty of projects, but it's not the CV that's worth noting here. Delirious and Matt have been up close and personal to the UK church over recent years, sharing the same influences, conversations and platforms. Along with Jeff, their passion for music that draws people closer to God at the same time as recognizing the world beyond the church doors makes for some explosive experiences. What could happen? At the end of the day it's all up to God, but with these three crews on stage, who knows where the people will end up.
