Delirious? have received a nomination for the 37th Annual GMA Music Awards, more commonly known as the Dove Awards. The nominees were announced live yesterday (1st February) at a press conference in the Crockett Ballroom of the Hilton Nashville Hotel in America by Rebecca St. James and Kirk Franklin.
The Sparrow Records compilation album titled
'Music Inspired by The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe', released in September 2005, has been nominated for the
'Special Event Album of the Year' award. The Delirious? song 'Stronger' appeared on the compilation album prior to its inclusion on the band's latest album, 'The Mission Bell'. The Narnia compilation also features songs by Jars of Clay, Steven Curtis Chapman, Jeremy Camp, Bethany Dillon, Rebecca St. James, Toby Mac, Nichole Nordeman, David Crowder Band, Kutless and Chris Tomlin.
The winners will be announced at a live ceremony at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville on 5th April and will later be televised across America. Delirious? were nominated for two Dove Award last year and have amassed a total of 11 nominations in the past seven years. Despite this, the band's only Dove Award was received for the 'Special Event Album' in 2000 for their contribution to the 'Streams' compilation album. Delirious? also performed 'I Could Sing' live at the awards ceremony back in 2002.
