'Deeper' In The Charts For 3 Weeks Running
Last modified: 25 May 1997
The single "Deeper" (released on 5th May) was an amazing success. It entered the Official UK Top 40 singles chart at Number 20 on May 11th, was at Number 39 in its second week, and at Number 65 the following week (25th May). In the UK Indie Singles Chart it reached as high as Number 5. This is how Radio 1 DJ, Mark Goodier, introduced 'Deeper' when it entered the Charts on 11th May:
"A new entry for Delirious? a band who's name might be a little unfamiliar to you. They've never appeared in the chart and they've sold over 70,000 albums. They play gigs to 2000 people but they organise themselves with their one roadie. May be the best kept secret in pop until today. Last time round they released a record it got to number 41, just outside the chart. Today 'Deeper' gives Delirious? a substantial hit!" After playing the single, he then went on to plug their new album:
"If you like the sound of that watch out for their album which is coming in June. Its called 'King Of Fools'".
