Delirious? move to MP3
Last modified: 20 Jul 2001

Artist: Delirious?
Label: Furious? Records
Date: 20 Jul 2001

The MP3 of the new Delirious? single "Take Me Away" will be available free of charge on July 23 direct through the bands own website www.delirious.co.uk. The track was previously scheduled for release through traditional high street retailers.

The track will also be available via MP3.com as the first phase of a twelve month relationship. For the promotion of "Take Me Away" and "Audio Lessonover?" MP3.com will be using SingleServing direct emailing to over 250,000 subscribers alongside two Newsletter Preview emails to over 500,000 subscribers each. The band will also have a banner on the site and will be a featured artist on MP3.com. Other groundbreaking plans are to be announced.

Tony Patoto, managing director Furious? Records: "The band has a committed and incredibly loyal fan base who will go out and buy every Delirious? release, putting every single comfortably in the top 30. One of the reasons for us releasing singles is to introduce the band to new fans through the media. Radio airplay obviously plays a significant part in this process and without airplay it is safe to say that it would only be the loyal fan base who would be buying the record rather than any new fans.

The band members are very keen to acknowledge the support of their fan base and have taken the decision that the single should be made available free to the fans through the two websites. The relationship with MP3.com is extremely exciting and reflects the band's and the labels' desire to embrace and explore new media.

"We are extremely excited to be working with Furious Records on the release of the new Delirious single, "Take Me Away". Direct communication with music fans around the world is now more of a reality than ever before and the 'SingleServing' email campaign is a excellent and efficient way to target market", said Chris Montgomery, Vice President - Subscription Services at MP3.com.

"Furious Records is on the cutting edge of marketing directly to music fans and not afraid to be innovative and aggressive. They will no doubt, set an example for future targeted music promotions involving the internet."

The album "Audio Lessonover?" will be available through traditional high street retailers on August 6th.
