Delirious? Announce Plans To Break Up

Delirious? have today announced that the band will come to an end in 2009. Having been together for about 15 years, Delirious? have finally decided that the time has come to call it a day. The decision comes almost as much a surprise to the band as it does to their thousands of fans around the world with their decision to break up having only been made in the last few days.

Delirious? will still play all of the concerts that they have committed to in 2008 and 2009. The UK tour in October will however be their last tour. Details of their final concert schedules for 2009 have yet to be revealed. In April this year Delirious? released what will now turn out to be their final studio album together, Kingdom Of Comfort. Over the years they have released 8 full studio albums and 4 live albums.

Between 1997 and 2005 Delirious? achieved unprecedented success for a Christian band in the UK when they released 9 singles, all of which entered the charts inside the top 60. 7 of their singles were inside the top 40 and 4 inside the top 20. Their highest chart hit was 'See The Star' peaking at number 16 in 1999. In 2001 they surprised the world when they were asked to support mainstream megastars Bon Jovi on their UK Tour, an achievement they matched the following year when they toured with Bryan Adams. They have also performed to a million people at a concert attended by the Pope, and to 1.2million people in India.

The success that Delirious? achieved in their careers has led to them being recognised as the best Christian band ever to come out of the UK. Their global fanbase has reached every corner of the world, with the band having performed in at least 36 different countries. Their heavy touring schedule is one of the reasons that Delirious? have decided to finish. The idea of spending more time at home with their families has become more and more appealing, and the band members will most likely now pursue individual projects. Martin recently established the CompassionArt charity, which he will now be committing more time to. But whatever their futures hold, they leave behind them a gaping hole in the lives of thousands of people.
