Last modified: 28 Oct 2005

Five Date South African Tour Announced Delirious? have announced details of a five date tour of South Africa starting next month. The band will perfom in Johannesburg (30th Nov), Durban (1st Dec), Port Elizabeth (2nd Dec), Cape Town (3rd Dec) and Pretoria (4th Dec). It will be the first time Delirious? have performed in South Africa since their 2002 three date tour of the country.

Whilst in Durban for a concert at the stunning 5000-capacity 'Jesus Dome', Delirious? will also be spending time with the Durban Street Kids Project. The band have been involved with a charity called HOPEHIV for many years now and have visited South Africa on several occasions in support of the organisation. Up to 650 children are helped each year in Durban, with a huge proportion of them being either HIV positive, AIDS orphans or both. At least half of these are safely returned to their original families or communities - a primary aim of the project run by the Amos Trust.

The Project has an HIV/AIDS awareness programme aiming to prevent further infection. It also helps with personal healthcare and hygiene, lifeskills training and recreational support, and has a back to school programme. HOPEHIV bought a vehicle for the project and paid the salaries of two key workers last year. Delirious? are encouraging people to get involved by donating money to HOPEHIV.
